My Thanksgiving Table, A Bit of Christmas and A Casual Holiday Outfit Idea
This year our Thanksgiving will be smaller than usual. We have so much going on with the renovation and it feels somewhat chaotic so I decided to scale things back and just have family. Our daughter Sarah and her family has decided not to make the trip because little Lawson is just over a month old so they won’t be joining us. We’ll have eight for dinner and I went all out on the table decor.
Thanksgiving is such a time of tradition for our family even though things have changed slightly over the years. This will be the first Thanksgiving since my mom died and even though she wasn’t able to come for the last several years, we were still able to go and visit. So many of the recipes that everyone loves came from her and we make them every year! I’m sure we’ll all sit around the table and tell “Nonnie stories” while we eat. I’ll make her Vidalia Onion Casserole and Corn Pudding, Marinated Cabbage and we’ll have chocolate pie and Brown Stone Front Cake…all so delicious. I’ll share those recipes here soon because they’re perfect for Christmas too! Everyone chips in and brings something now…my son-in-law Chris makes the turkey and my daughters all choose something to bring so I don’t have to do all the work. It’s such a relaxing time before the hustle and bustle really starts.
Thanksgiving Table
My friend Kim of Tables Pour Deux came by and helped me tweak my Thanksgiving table and I love how it turned out. For the place settings, I used a mix of gold and silver beaded placemats, gold chargers, Lennox china combined with vintage Spode India Tree dessert plates and napkins from Misette. I’ve had the colored wine glasses forever and have no idea who makes them. I got the fabulous gold pine cones at Creme de la Creme in Richmond, VA and love love them! The glass candleholders came from all over but I’ll link a few similar in a boutique at the end of the post!
It was Kim’s idea to tie the silverware with thin silver velvet ribbon…hopefully it’ll keep my grandsons from eating before everyone gets to the table!
The hydrangeas are the last ones from my yard and are placed in an antique soup terrain with the lid and spoon propped to the side. The whole display is placed on a footed silver tray and is surrounded with magnolia leaves, velvet ribbon and a pine cone garland. The silver pumpkins are old and probably from Home Goods. We just kept playing until it all felt right!
Parlor Mantle
This mantle looked so pretty before the ribbon was added but it was a “WOW” after! The pop of color added so much! I have linked so much beautiful ribbon in my Amazon Shop!
Kim has such a good eye and so many great ideas for decorating and I hope she’ll do a blog post showing her home because it is FABULOUS!
We used odds and ends that I’ve had for years to fill the vases! I’m so happy with how this turned out and love seeing it every morning!
Assorted little Christmas trees that I’ve had for years combine with Luminaire pinecone candles and a scented holiday candle from Snif along with a large vase filled with magnolia leaves to make a beautiful display on my mirrored chest!
Hall Table
I used a combination of things that were already on the table and added an Amaryllis bulb, a candle and some votives. I’ll change this up a bit for Christmas!
Before everyone arrives on Thanksgiving, Baldy will build a fire outdoors, I’ll turn on all the fireplaces and light all the candles…everything will sparkle!
The tiny holiday votives are from Snif Candles!

Just a little vignette with a small artificial tree.
A Casual Holiday Look
I’m not 100% sure what I’m wearing on Thanksgiving yet…it depends on the weather! It’s supposed to rain here and I’ll be so sad if it does because we can’t be outside by the fire, but if it does rain, I may just wear this outfit! It’s somewhat dressy because of the pants, the boots are easy to move around in and the color of the top just gives a fall vibe. My dark brown suede bag completes the look and the leopard coat keeps me warm and adds interest to this look!
I hope you’ve found some inspiration in this post! I’m linking everything in the boutiques below!
I’ll be going live on Instagram tonight at around 5ish…to be announced on my Instagram stories soon. After that, I’m cooking for Thanksgiving!
I have a favor to ask…if you do pop over and visit my Amazon Shop, it would mean the world to me if you would hit the follow button…that way, I’ll show up on more Amazon searches!
Thanks so much for reading today! Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts!
